My name is Katya, I’m a scottish-canadian photographer and visual artist.
I enjoy creating visual ideas across photography, moving image, sculpture and installation. I’m interested in creating experiential and interactive work that is informed by research interests across aesthetics, phenomenology, feminism, affect theory and vibrant materialism.
In photography, I am particularly interested in shapes, form, and composition. I explore-document the built environment, including architecture, empty space, material traces, construction sites, and trees. This practice recognises the value of the existing in our surroundings, and traces our relationships to space and place.
